How to Modify Ingested CSV/DFI Ingestion Table Metadata

Issue

Modifying CSV or DFI ingestion table metadata which has been ingested already.

Cause

Once the CSV/DFI source data is crawled and ingested in the Infoworks ADE, user will not be allowed to edit the metadata for the source table. The edit schema option will allow the user to navigate to the metadata page but the UI options will be disabled once the data is ingested.

Solution

To perform changes in metadata, you must Truncate the table from the Infoworks ADE as explained below and then modify the metadata as required.

  • Click the table name in the source page ( from version 2.4.0) or select table configurations in lower version (version 2.3.x).

  • Select Maintenance Option for the respective table.

  • Click the Truncate Table Data option and click Yes in the confirmation pop-up window. Internal job will be run to drop the table after this selection.

  • Navigate to the metadata tab of the respective table, click the Edit option. Modify the data type or add new columns as required.
